Is Crypto Dead?

Oh, how times have changed. Approximately one year ago today I was sitting at my cubicle, burnt out from my wage-slave job, refreshing multiple cryptocurrency prices and hoping for a home-run like when $SHIB went parabolic. Nearly everyone in my social circle was chatting about one of three things: NFTs, Crypto or that random tech stock that they had just Yolo’d their life savings into…

Is Crypto Dead?

Well fast forward to present day, and the only people still talking about crypto socially are the one’s who’ve been in it prior to 2021’s boom. I recall scrolling through Instagram and seeing taglines in people’s bios like “born in the metaverse,” and other such catchphrases because we were all riding the high of 50% gains (on paper) at minimum. What happened? Well soaring inflation, nearly every industry slowly making layoffs, rising fuel prices, political conflict abroad, the list goes on.

TLDR: yes it’s dead. So are stocks. Thanks, Uncle Joe. But in all seriousness, it feels more like the quiet before the storm. Do yourself a favor and go load up StockTwits and search for your favorite stock or crypto. You’ll see 85-90% of people bashing whichever ticker or coin it is because that’s what happens in bear markets. It’s mass psychosis. In a bear market it’s not cool to pound your chest and stand up for the coin you believe will change the world. The new cool thing to do is talk about how everything sucks now.

Rinse and repeat until the next bull market. When people yet again will be updating their social media profiles with links to their sh*tty NFT mint OR with silly phrases like “born in the meta.” But either way, crypto is not dead. It’s hibernating. Some of the sharpest minds in the world are still as passionate about bitcoin, Ethereum, and fine doge too, even though they aren’t randomly going parabolic every other night. In our society it’s not normal to be an early adapter. Tune out the noise, stick to your guns and last as long as you can. We all thought things couldn’t have possibly gotten worse after 2021, are you paying attention yet?
