Ranking the Best NFT Collectables
The NFT world has been rocked by ‘crypto winter’ with prices being slashed across the board. Recently, it broke that Justin Bieber’s Bored Ape Yacht NFT, which he paid $1.29 Million for, is now worth $69,000. The future of NFTs is still strong, but in different ways than investing in collectables with no rare traits, like Bieber’s. Let’s rank the best NFT collectables.
Best NFT Collectables
1. Crypto Punks
Crypto Punks launched in 2017, well before the NFT craze. It’s a fixed set of 10,000 collectables. The characters feature different traits like hair styles, cigarettes, vapes and jewelry.
Because Crypto Punks are widely considered as the ‘father of all NFTs’, they’re going to maintain value.
As PFP (profile picture) NFTs go, Punks edges out Bored Ape Yacht Club for the top position.

2. Bored Ape Yacht Club
Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 10,000 NFTs, that also double as membership cards to member-only benefits such as the BATHROOM, which is a collaborative graffiti board.
Essentially once your part of BAYC, you’ll have access to further collectables.
While I personally don’t like the art of Bored Ape Yacht Club, they have done an excellent job of implementing a community-type feel.
I’d argue that part of the appeal of NFTs (besides striking it big and getting rich), is to be a part of something bigger.
In BAYC’s case, that something bigger would be a cool online community for its members.
I bought a bored ape for $1,500 last year – it is now worth $76,000.
That one ape also got me a free M2 Serum worth $32,000, a Mutant worth $13,000, and ApeCoin worth $30,000.
Oh and land in Otherside I’m turning down $4k offers on.
So yes – I’m still very bullish on BAYC 🚀

There’s a good example of how investing in BAYC is much more than simply owning a PFP NFT.
The collection, however, has experienced a significant drop in floor price during crypto winter.

3. Pudgy Penguins
A personal favorite of mine, though I don’t own any as of the time of writing this. They are in my opinion, the most accessible group of PFP NFTs.
They are a collection of 8,888 NFTs, that claim to spread good vibes and positivity for everyone.
Simple enough, right?
Part of the reason I have ranked this collection so highly is the Web3 integration that’s in progress.
Bringing a Web3 twist to the traditional auction, we’re proud to enter the world of digital fine art with @Sothebys.
From auctioning Cole’s Penguin to launching Sotheby’s first-ever SBT, this auction is full of surprises & Web3 history.

Pudgy Penguins has also recently linked with auction house Sotheby’s to sell some of the rarest ones.

Any NFT collection that’s working with the legacy art companies, is typically a good sign.
4. Clone X
Clone X is an NFT collection consisting of 20,000 from RTFKT and Artist Takashi Murakami.
Their self-describe as a next-gen avatar collection.
The differences between Clone X and the above projects, is that Clone X started out as 3D.
This offers collectors more ‘unique’ characteristics, than say a pixelated punk.
My only caveat with Clone X and RTFKT, is that they are a bit hype beast.
It’s your Supreme of NFTs, if you will.
However, I am a big fan of Takashi Murakami’s work. Anything he creates (Art or NFT) is a good bet to gain value over the coming years.

RTFTK seems to be building connections in the sporting space as well, with some recent Football (soccer) NFT jersey launches.
They are well positioned in the industry to work with legacy companies (Nike), to convert the next generation to customers.
5. The Sandbox
The Sandbox is a lot to digest for anyone just beginning to explore the NFT space.
Think of the Sandbox like the NFT version of Minecraft.
Huh? Yes you read that right.
The Sandbox has developed an open-world game that lets users purchase ‘land’ and other collectables through NFTs.
So, essentially take a hit title like Minecraft and monetize the crap out of it.
While the game may need some polishing here and there, The Sandbox is creating different collectables ad nauseum.
This could be perceived as a negative to investors, who are looking for rare items.
However, it’s still in its infancy, which gives long-term minded investors significant upside.
There’s no doubt that the future of gaming is going to involve NFTs and in-game currencies.
Thus, making the Sandbox one of the best positioned collections to withstand the test of time.
