What’s In Store for Crypto Gaming 2023?

The state of gaming feels like it’s at an all-time low. Perhaps crypto gaming 2023 can completely revolutionize that.

Crypto Gaming 2023

The current state of gaming is in shambles.

The newly released Pokémon: Violet and Scarlet have bad ratings.

Pokémon Scarlet is currently at 2.9/10 on metacritic.

Pokémon Violet is not much better with a user score of 3.3/10 on metacritic.

The new call of duty: Modern Warfare 2022, looks decent, but fails to deliver new mechanics.

For blockbuster gaming titles, they leave much to be desired.

Then there’s upcoming titles like Grand Theft Auto 6, which has been “coming soon” for what feels like a decade.

Gamers have also been waiting the release of another open-world game, Elder Scrolls, from Bethesda studios.

What does this have to do with crypto gaming?

Since the state of traditional gaming is at an all-time low (personal opinion), there’s an opportunity for Web3 gaming to gain market share.

Crypto gaming is positioned well in 2023

I don’t expect there to be any groundbreaking titles on the level of GTA, COD, Fortnite, etc. but a few long-term potential.

1. The Sandbox

I made a previous post on Sandbox, from an NFT collectible standpoint.

Sandbox and their developers, Pixowl, are attempting to make the Minecraft version of Web3 games.

This would be achieved by purchasing in-game land and other collectibles as NFTs.

It’s an ambitious project no doubt. However, because they’re an early adopter to the space, they have a good chance of being successful.

It’s been reported that Sandbox is looking to raise another $400 million, having been valued at over $4 billion total.

If they’re successful in getting the funding, the sky is the limit for Sandbox.

Imagine an open world where you could interact with other players and collect loot that actually has monitory value.

Their project could forever change the gaming landscape.

Sandbox was founded in 2011, which gives them “legacy company” status within the crypto space.

2. Big Time

Big Time is a free-to-play multiplayer RPG focused on an in-game economy.

But, I personally feel like this is a big (no pun intended) drop off from the Sandbox to Big Time.

Still, the game has potential to blow up.

Let’s use League of Legends for example. There are so many in-game collectibles, yet players get no real value from them.

The only value that comes from these is from having status of a rare character skin.

If implemented correctly, Big Time could give players the feeling of real value. Plus, a good RPG experience that keeps users hooked.

Early feedback from Big Time, has been largely positive.

People, who have early access, have cited visually pleasing worlds and fighting mechanics.

A game should succeed if it has the core fundamentals.

That’s why I believe Big Time will succeed, they are focusing on the monetization second, and the gameplay first.

3. Gods Unchained

A free-to-play card game that gives you complete ownership of your in-game items.

Sounds cool, right?

The ownership of your cards will be through NFTs. The more games you win, the more cards you can collect.

From there, you’re able to trade cards with other players.

The art style and branding leaves some to be desired, in my opinion.

However, the game is still in its beginning stages.

When I think of successful card games, I think of Magic the Gathering and Gwent.

Each game built up loyal followings that amassed large audiences on streaming sites like Twitch.tv.

Gods Unchained would love to be in the same conversation as either of the two aforementioned.

Thoughts on Crypto Gaming 2023

None of the games above get me that excited to try them. I’d say the Sandbox has the best chance of succeeding.

But, something feels artificial about it.

What I hope to see in Crypto gaming is the legacy companies (TakeTwo, Nintendo, EA, Activision, Bethesda) find a way to implement NFTs.

It might not happen in 2023, but I would love in-game collectables in a title like Fallout.

Walking around and scavenging for rare items sounds fun!

Pokémon is another game where I could see NFTs catching on.

There’s so much potential for crypto gaming in 2023 and beyond.

What game do you think will be most successful?

naturally like your web site however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will surely come again again.
